How often have you been e-mailed ‘I will be bringing two small well behaved dogs with me’ after the booking has been made?

When the two Rottweilers have left and the hotel cat has been prescribed a course of Diocalm, what do you charge to cover the cost of cleaning the room and how do you break the news to the departed occupants?

In case a booker arrives with a couple of Ferrets down their trousers or a Python was the cause of a blocked toilet it might be a good idea to specify exactly what type of Pets you permit on your T&C’s.

For pets, read dogs and the odd cat but we are talking canine guests here really, aren’t we?

Travelodge and Premier Inn have two different takes on accommodating pets. The Former charge £20 and justify the cost by saying:

‘’Want to book a pet-friendly getaway now? Just add your pet as an extra when you book on the Travelodge website. A cleaning charge, payable upon booking, will be incurred per pet to account for a deep clean of the hotel room following check out. Guide dogs, assistance dogs, and hearing dogs are exempt from this charge’’.

Premier Inn say ‘Unfortunately, with the exception of assistance dogs, we don't allow pets to stay at our hotels’.

If you truly are pet friendly reaching out and stating on your web site that ‘’We don’t tolerate dogs; we absolutely love having them’’ which will go down well with bookers is a reassuring statement.
